Along with Lee Weisert, I am a member of the Portable Acoustic Modulation Laboratory (PAML).
I am currently the composer-in-residence with Picosa, a Chicago-based chamber ensemble.
I am a member of the Chicago-based post-rock ensemble Maurice.
I am currently Professor of Music at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, where I teach courses in music composition, music theory, computer and electronic music, and interdisciplinary topics in music and soundscape ecology.
In 2013 I collaborated with composer Thomas Smetryns on a ‘sound mapping’ of the Voeren region of Belgium. One of the projects that resulted was a 12 minute soundscape composition made from recordings of the various towns and countrysides in the Voeren.
I have done research and writing in areas related to electronic and computer music, sound installation, and methods for music composition using algorithmic processes. Here is a selected list of papers:
Otoacoustic Emissions as a Compositional Tool [International Computer Music Conference, 2010];
Granular Wall: Approaches to Sonifying Fluid Motion [with Lee Weisert, International Computer Music Conference, 2016)]
The Argus Project: Underwater Soundscape Composition with Laser-controlled Modulation [with Lee Weisert, New Interfaces for Musical Expression, 2009]
Maderna’s Mahler: A Model for Electroacoustic Composition [with Brent Wetters, International Computer Music Conference, 2019]
Visualizing Euclidean Rhythms Using Tangle Theory [with Neil Nicholson]
